Custom-Designed 350-acre Training Complex

National Training Schools operates a custom-designed 350-acre training complex in Green Cove Springs, FL. Among truck driving schools, National Training is the only school in the United States with a training facility large enough—and a private highway long enough—to safely train students to operate 18-wheel trucks and prepare for CDL testing. We also provide dedicated training areas for heavy equipment instruction.

This expansive training ground was built specifically for professional instruction. It allows students in CDL training and heavy equipment training programs to learn and practice in a controlled, private environment designed for safety, confidence, and skill development.

Training Grounds Features

Our 350-acre training complex includes:

This facility supports students pursuing CDL and heavy equipment operator programs in one location.

Truck Driver Training on Private Grounds

At our training facility, students receive hands-on CDL training designed to prepare them for real-world driving and testing requirements. Training includes instruction on how to:

Helpful Resources

Students train on private roads before transitioning to public highways, helping them build confidence before driving in live traffic. This approach sets National Training Schools apart from many trucking schools that rely heavily on public roads during early training.

CDL Simulator Lab

Located within our training complex, the CDL simulator lab provides a low-risk, low-pressure training environment for new and experienced drivers. The simulator system features:

The simulator supports CDL students practicing shifting, braking, and operating under conditions such as winter weather. It is used as a training supplement alongside hands-on driving instruction and supports students pursuing Class A, B, or C licenses, including those preparing for a CDL passenger endorsement.

Heavy Equipment Training Grounds

Our private training grounds also support heavy equipment operator training through National Training Schools’ Heavy Now course. Contractors and construction firms consistently need qualified operators, and our facility is designed to meet those training needs.

Students train in classrooms and outdoor areas dedicated to heavy equipment instruction, learning to safely inspect, maintain, and operate multiple types of machinery. Training includes instruction related to:

This training prepares students for entry-level roles operating heavy equipment in construction and related fields.

A Safer Learning Environment

Unlike many truck driving schools that use public roads early in training, National Training Schools provides a safer learning environment through its private, purpose-built training grounds. These grounds were designed specifically for professional instruction—not adapted from parking lots or shared public spaces.

Students are introduced to public roads only when instructors determine they are ready, usually by the fifth day of training. This approach helps reduce risk, improves confidence, and supports skill mastery for both CDL and equipment operator students.

Hands-On Training That Builds Confidence

National Training Schools offers four times the amount of hands-on training compared to many competing programs. Students spend extensive time behind the wheel and in the operator’s seat, which helps explain why employers nationwide seek out graduates from our truck driving schools and equipment operator schools.

This hands-on approach supports students pursuing careers as heavy equipment operators, as well as those entering professional trucking.
